This article echos what what John Jappy has said in one of his Youtube videos, simply that Scotland's oil and gas is strategic in the collateralisation of Britain's debt. It probably is the most important point, because whilst Britain does have strength in various areas (financial services, manufacturing etc. the biggest asset for offsetting their debt is Scotland's oil. In short, it is my opinion that Britain needs the asset for underpinning the debt, more than they need the income.
